What is a Functional Bloodwork Specialist?

When you have your blood work done by your primary care physician, and they call you back for those “Let’s go over your labs” appointments, I’m normally the next in line to view them. Patients usually say to me, “I have been to several doctors, and my labs look normal, but I still feel bad.” This is where we come in.

Western medicine doctors normally don’t know how to read lab results to find hidden issues. The markers and ranges they are trained to find are for putting you on the next prescription or clinical trial.

Functional medicine treats the body as one – one organ system affecting other organ systems and parts of the body. We typically don’t treat patients’ specific symptoms; we treat what blood tells us.

A Functional Blood Work Specialist is trained to take the lab results and look beyond the symptoms you are experiencing. We take a “deep dive” into what is going on inside the body as a whole and find the root cause of ALL of those symptoms you are having.

The more information we can gather from your bloodwork, the more ammunition we have to figure out what is going on inside your body. The clearer the picture is for us to determine the next course of action.

When someone tells me that they think they are “pretty healthy,” my reply is, “Let’s look at your blood.” Blood Work Doesn’t Lie!

I am getting YOUR labs and taking a “deep dive.” I am not guessing what the problem is or how to fix it, or suggesting a medication to try for a couple of weeks to see if it helps, then only to keep trading out medication for other medications. All of it is printed right there, in black and white, within your report.
